Fero Power 3 with 4,000mAh battery & 8MP Camera: Specs & Price

February 4, 2018 by yorubadev 1 Comment

While we’re still waiting for Fero Mobiles to release the Fero Royale Y2 which was announced early this year for sale in retail stores, the company has added a new smartphone, the Fero Power 3 to its 2018 inventory. The device was announced through the brand’s official Facebook page and is already available in retail stores across the country.

The Fero Power 3 comes in the budget Power series, and as suggested by its name, it is a powerhouse as it packs a 4,000mAh battery. Even though it’s a budget device, it has some pretty interesting specs onboard like Android 7.0 Nougat OS and an 8MP camera. It, however, shares the RAM capacity with its predecessor, the Fero Power 2.

Fero Power 3 In-depth Specifications

Display & Design

The Fero Power 3 comes compact with a 5-inch display which outputs good colours with an HD (720 by 1,280) pixel resolution, resulting in a pixel density of around 235 PPI. The display is made with In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology, offering wide viewing angles.

Fero Power 3 Display

As is common with budget devices, the Power 3 is built with polycarbonate on the rear while a metal frame holds things together between the front and rear. Navigational buttons are placed on the bottom bezel, freeing up the compact screen space for activities like reading and watching movies.

Fero Power 3 Dimensions

The Fero Power 3 is quite heavy at 172.1 grammes, and this is due to its large battery capacity. It’s also thick at 10.2 millimetres and may prove quite a burden to operate with one hand over a long period of time, especially for those with small palms.

Performance, Storage & Memory

Under the hood, the Fero Power 3 is powered by a MediaTek MT6580A processor that can run at a maximum speed of 1.3GHz on its four cores, while a Mali-400 MP2 GPU handles its graphics operations.

Like the Fero Power 2, the Power 3 comes with 1GB of RAM for multi-tasking and 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using an external microSD card. Its microSD card slot is dedicated, so you don’t have to choose between that and a second SIM card.

Camera

The Fero Power 3 offers good photography features for a budget smartphone, and it’s an improvement on the Power 2 that was released last year. The smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel camera that has Autofocus and a f/2.2 aperture on the rear. It’s also accompanied by a LED flash which illuminates objects in poorly-lit environments.

The Power 3 also sports a 5-megapixel camera upfront with the same f/2.2 aperture and a LED flash providing light support for selfies.

Battery, Connectivity & Software

In line with its moniker and the name of its series, the Fero Power 3 packs quite a punch in the power department with a 4,000mAh Lithium-Polymer battery. This same battery capacity was present on the Power 2, and even the Fero Royale Y2 comes with a 4,000mAh battery.

The Fero Power 3, sadly, doesn’t support 4G LTE connectivity, but you still have Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n dual-band and Bluetooth 4.1 for wireless connections. The smartphone has USB OTG, making it easy to share the abundant battery juice with other devices (via reverse charging), and it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Fero Power 3 Price and Availability

The Fero Power 3 comes in Black colour and can be purchased in retail stores across the country for N22,500. You can also find the smartphone on online e-commerce stores.
