So you have $220, but want the Samsung Galaxy Note 8…

MEIIGOO NOTE 8: still the best Samsung Galaxy Note 8 alternative

Display & Design

Meiigoo Note 8

Looking at the rear of the MEIIGOO NOTE 8, it almost seems as if it is the Samsung’s flagship you are staring at. In fact, the more you look at the Meiigoo Note 8, the less you see the Galaxy Note 8.

The Meiigoo Note 8 is about the same size as the Galaxy Note 8 but is a little smaller and weighs less. Leave the difference on dimension and weight out of the equation and the MEIIGOO NOTE 8 will be a perfect clone of Samsung’s flagship.

You can buy the device in either Blue or Black colours.

Meiigoo Note 8

Up front, like the Galaxy, the Meiigoo Note 8 comes with a 2.5D curved edge-to-edge display with FHD+ resolution and a high pixel density (403 ppi). The screen is sized at 5.99 inches and has a 81% screen-to-body ratio on paper.

Performance, Storage & Software

The MEIIGOO NOTE 8 uses MediaTek’s MT6750T chip to power operations. The SoC carries 8 cores (Octa core) of Cortex-A53 processor whereby half of the cores clock 1.0GHz frequency while the other half operate faster at 1.5GHz.

To ensure the smooth and fluid running of apps and processes, Meiigoo placed 4GB of RAM on board and the Mali T860 GPU on assistance duties.

The Galaxy Note 8 lookalike runs on the Android Nougat operating system (version 7.1) and there is 64GB of internal storage space which can be expanded via Micro-SD card to 256GB.

Camera and Battery

As seen in the above image, the camera arrangement and sensor placement is a perfect replica of that of the Galaxy Note 8. However, the camera quality isn’t to be compared.

There are two lenses on the rear of this device. There is a primary/main 13-megapixels sensor for image/subject capture and a secondary 5-megapixels lens in charge of bokeh, depth of field and black and white functions. There is also a combo of two LED flash for brightening subjects to be captured.

On the front, there is a single 5-megapixel lens. The selfie cam is a SONY Exmore RS sensor which allows for optimum image quality in low light and also for Face ID – yes, the Meiigoo Note 8 comes with the Facial recognition technology.

All the ports and openings of the device can be found at the bottom – speaker grills, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port.

The USB Type-C port allows for quick charging of the device’s non-detachable 3,300mAh Lithium Polymer battery. The battery charges up in about 2 hours and can conveniently give a day of usage.

MEIIGOO NOTE 8 Price and Availability

It can be said that having many features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and not costing up to half of it is one of the major highlights of the Meiigoo Note 8.

The device can be purchased on GearBest for $228, compared to the $950 price tag of Samsung’s Note 8. Converting $228 to local currency gives about NGN 80,000.
