Samsung announces official release date for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus

January 25, 2018 by Olanrewaju Sodiq Leave a Comment

Samsung Galaxy S9 release date: expect to see the device live for the first time at the MWC event on February 25th.

The “Big S” have announced that it is set to take the veils off its flagship smartphones for the year 2018, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. So, while you begin the countdown, you can as well continue below and see all we know about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and its brother, the Galaxy S9 Plus.

Samsung’s announcement is however in contrast with earlier leaks and rumours that suggested that the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus would be released on February 26th, 2018. It was a close call though👏

The Samsung “S series” is arguably one of the biggest (and best) smartphone line of the brand and due to that reason(s), devices from the series are usually most talked about and most anticipated. However, since Samsung’s game at keeping details about any of her upcoming devices is top-notch, little is usually know about them until they are released. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are no exceptions.

An invite sent out by Samsung confirms this and from the image below, it can be picked up that the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus or either of the duo will have camera properties/qualities that will blow us away.

Galaxy S9 Release Date

Design – expect a Galaxy S8 lookalike

So, going by much available information, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will most likely be a chip off the Galaxy S8. The S9 Plus, however, will launch with unique, distinctive and distinguishing features.

As we have heard, Samsung will adopt Apple’s latest method of differentiating its standard iPhones from its “Plus” version. That is, embedding dual camera sensors on the Plus versions, while the standard version retains only a single lens.

Galaxy S9 Release Date

Come February 25th, odds are very high that we would see a Galaxy S9 Plus with a dual camera lens and the Galaxy S9, singular lens on the rear. Attached below are supposed images of the Samsung Galaxy S9 by a smartphone case maker, Poetic.

Samsung Galaxy S9 release date and event

Earlier in January, ZDNet confirmed that Samsung would not be unveiling her flagship smartphones at the CES 2018 event (that ran through January 9 – 12, 2018) but instead, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018).

The devices now have an official release date but nothing else. Full information about specifications, pricing, availability, and shipping will also be announced on that day.

Till then, we’ll definitely keep you updated as new details unravel.
